My Favorite Books on the Writing Craft:This is just a few for now, but I will add more. Some will even probably be more recent because I’m always reading new stuff!Writing Magic Systems by Stant Litore (working my way through his non-fiction works)Anything by Joseph CampbellThe Writer’s Journey by Christopher VogelStory Robert McKeeWriting Down the Bones by Natalie GoldbergScreenplay and The Screenwriter’s Workbook by Syd FieldNot actual writing craft, but for mindset and mental health topics related to the field of writing, Becca Symes has a wonderful series of books. She comes across as both thoughtful and straight-forward. I have not read them all yet, but I have a few.There are so many writing sources out there in the world, and I’ve listed some of my favorite books, but I’m a bit biased about my favorite teacher: Holly Lisle. She’s my mom. Yep. I was raised by a writer! I was lucky.It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie or a seasoned writer, Holly has something for you.My favorite two courses of hers are How to Think Sideways and How to Revise Your Novel, but there is a free course How to Write Flash Fiction that Doesn’t SUCK! that can help you get something done faster than writing a full novel - and maybe you’ll be able to even publish it and start earning an income as an author.Holly’s Writing Classes
There is also a tremendous community in the forums, a mix of newbs, pros and in-betweens that are helpful, enthusiastic, and, most importantly, always writing!

It’s why we seek out nonfiction books on the topics we’re most flummoxed by or obsessed with.That wisdom also touches topics that don’t include plot structure, world building, or creating characters.The following resources might also be very help, depending on the route you’re taking with your writing journey. I’ll continue to add more links, this is just me getting started:
