My Favorite Books on the Writing Craft:
My favorite books on the Writing Craft!
This is just a few for now, but I will add more. Some will even probably be more recent because I’m always reading new stuff!
All links are Amazon links due to the availability and accessibility. They are not paid commission links. I also buy used if I can find the books I’d like used and when on a budget - but for indie writers* (such as Stant Litore) I buy new because the money goes to them.
Writing Magic Systems by Stant Litore (working my way through his non-fiction works)
Create a Language Clinic by Holly Lisle
Anything by Joseph Campbell
The Writer’s Journey by Christopher Vogel
Story Robert McKee
On Writing by Stephen King
Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg
Screenplay and The Screenwriter’s Workbook by Syd Field
Not actual writing craft, but for mindset and mental health topics related to the field of writing, Becca Symes has a wonderful series of books. She comes across as both thoughtful and straight-forward. I have not read them all yet, but I have a few.
*For purchasing from independent authors on Amazon, please make sure that you are buying from them and not a scammer. If you click on the author’s name and it leads to their linked Amazon Author Page and give the reviews a brief check, you should be good to go :)
